The gold medalist has been caught on camera knitting poolside

Watching Tom Daley completely engrossed in knitting during the diving has been both a wholesome and heartwarming sight of the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.

The Olympian was recently caught on camera knitting a cosy pink sweater for the famous internet dog, Izzy, during Sunday's women's diving final, and now he's been filmed receiving a large bag of yarn complete with a sheet of instructions during the men's diving.

In the clip posted on Twitter, the cameras cut to Tom accepting his delivery by the side of the pool - after all, he needs enough yarn to keep him going for the next five days. The Olympics draw to a close on August 8.

It's been a fantastic Olympic Games for the 27-year-old diver so far, who won his first-ever Olympic gold medal in the men's synchronised 10m platform last week alongside his diving partner Matty Lee. Tom went on to reveal on his Instagram page dedicated to his knitting and crocheting that he'd made his medal a tea cosy to keep it protected.

Tom proudly showed off his Union Jack-style medal holder, writing the message: "THANK YOU TO ALL MY FELLOW STITCHERS! Learning to knit and crochet has helped me so much through these Olympics and we won GOLD yesterday."

"This morning, I made a little cosy for my medal to stop getting scratched," Tom added in his video. "It slots in like this. It all tucks in nicely, to have a little pouch for me to carry around my medal without it getting scratched. How about that?"

The sports star also spoke about how he finds crafting cathartic, adding: "I don't normally post things that are not necessarily knitting related on my 'made with love' page, but myself and Matty won the Olympics yesterday, and I thought I'd come on and just say the one thing that has kept me sane throughout this whole process is my love for knitting, crochet, and all things stitching. So I want to say thank you to all my followers on here too much for actually following along."
