Fall's favorite flavor is now available in an Oreo.

Although fall is a month away, Oreo is already pumpkin spicing things up: After a 5-year hiatus, Oreo announced the summer return of their beloved autumnal flavor this month.

The cookie, which was last available on shelves in 2017, features orange pumpkin spice-flavored cream sandwiched between two Golden Oreo wafers. Available for a limited time only, the treat is designed to aesthetically fit in at any fall festivity like a pair of suede Uggs.

While pumpkin spice is a fan-favorite fall flavor, in previous years, Oreo took a different approach. During 2021, the brand released an apple cider donut-flavored cookie, with fruity filling stuffed between two golden wafers. The year before, it was Maple Cream. The return of the Pumpkin Spice Oreo follows a slew of new flavor releases in 2022, including Toffee Crunch, Ultimate Chocolate, and a special-edition Neapolitan Oreo.

The pumpkin spice craze began in 2003 when Starbucks introduced the Pumpkin Spice Latte, which was popularized in the 2010s as other brands caught on to the flavor. Now, pumpkin spice is a highly anticipated fall trend, transitioning America’s palates from summer to autumn with notes of cinnamon, clove, nutmeg and pumpkin.

Pumpkin Spice Oreos aren’t the only snack you’ll see branded with gourds this season. From Pumpkin Spice Goldfish, spiced Jello pudding and fall-flavored Twinkies to pumpkin-laced ramen noodles and squashy dog dental treats, the essence of the equinox knows no bounds.

Like the season, these orange-hued Oreos won’t be around forever. So put on a chunky knit scarf, play in the leaves, and grab a box of Pumpkin Spice Oreos from Walmart – who knows when they’ll be back.
