She already made a dog scarf when first taught to knit by Tom Daley. New career path?

After being taught to last year, by none other than Olympic gold medallist Tom Daley, Lorraine Kelly stitched up a doggy scarf for her daughter Rosie's dog Ruby. Now it's clear it wasn't a one-off, and the star has been practicing.

She took to Instagram on Wednesday (25 May) to show off a pretty professional looking dog blanket she created for her producer's new puppy Oscar, and we are impressed.

Is doggy knitting a new career path for the iconic presenter?

Sharing the adorable snap to her Instagram, Lorraine told fans and followers: "This is Oscar who adopted my fab producer @rosamcmahon and I am so happy he loves the blankie I knitted for him! A puppy blankie."

The soft blue blanket features a snuggly, fluffy yarn, perfect for puppy comfort, and Oscar is clearly a big fan.

The project is a step up from her first sweet hand-knitted scarf, with Lorraine progressing to a larger piece and a special wool, so we suspect she's been practicing.

Tom's knitting caught the public attention when he was seen knitting away in the stands at the Tokyo Olympics between events. The Olympian has previously explained that knitting was a hobby he took up in lockdown and that he finds it de-stressing.

Since then he's used his knitting profile to raise money for the Brain Tumour Charity, launched a knitting kit collection sold at John Lewis, and evidently... been passing on his skills.

Perhaps his protégée Lorraine will follow in his footsteps into a career in textiles? With a niche in pups of course.

Can't wait to see what she knits next!
